prairie sky series

This series of paintings was inspired by the striking colours of the sunrise and sunset around Calgary in the fall of 2021. During this time of year, the light is rich with oranges, pinks and blues over the brownish landscape. Strong winds and cloud formations create intriguing shapes accentuated by the colours of the low angle sunlight. Based on my observations, I chose to create more minimal compositions to capture the essence and beauty of nature that surrounds us.
